Microsoft has officially launched a suite of Microsoft 365 Companion Apps exclusive to Windows 11 desktops. These lightweight “mini apps” are designed to enhance productivity by offering quick access to essential tools directly from the taskbar.

The apps are exclusive to Windows 11 and will not be available on Windows 10. This aligns with Microsoft’s strategy as Windows 10 approaches its end-of-life in October 2025, and Windows 11 offers better performance benchmarks and compatibility with newer hardware.

The Companion Apps are lightweight, AI-enhanced mini applications designed to work seamlessly with Windows 11 and Co-pilot Plus PCs. These apps are deeply integrated with Microsoft 365 and are optimised for the new AI-powered hardware.
